Police will launch a new search of Mulligans Flat Reserve this weekend in a bid to find answers to the long-term disappearance of Jean Policarpio.
Jean Vincent Policarpio, known as Vince, left his family home in Bonner at about 9:30 pm on 26 September 2017, without his wallet, phone and keys. He never came back.
The-then 21-year-old was known to visit the Golden Sun Moth Walking Trail in Mulligans Flat and Chicken Gourmet in Bonner, and did not drive.
An extensive search of nearby bush areas and local lakes and ponds found no trace of him at the time of his disappearance.
However, police have made the decision to conduct a new search following a re-examination of all information available in the case. This search will be a concentrated effort to locate fresh evidence in the matter and will encompass the nature reserve behind Bonner and Throsby towards the NSW border.
Jean’s family has been informed the search is taking place this weekend.
Members of the public are likely to see up to 50 people, including ACT Policing and members of the ACT State Emergency Services, involved in the search between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm on both days of the weekend.
It’s expected more search activity will be carried out in the area the following weekend in relation to the same matter.
The police investigation into Jean’s disappearance remains active. He is described as Filipino in appearance, 165 centimetres tall and of slight build, with olive skin, brown eyes and black hair.
