Photowalk Canberra is a chance for any person no matter what age or ability to get together and have a lovely walk, get some fresh air and meet other photographically minded people. It is meant to be all inclusive whether you own a DSLR, a compact or just a phone-cam. These walks happen once a quarter and this is our ninth PHOTOWALK Canberra, so far.
IT IS NOT A COMPETITION. It is just a way to meet other interesting people to learn a little bit and to have a yarn and a laugh. Ownership of the images is retained by each individual and each person is urged to share their creations in the Flickr group http://www.flickr.com/groups/photowalk_canberra/pool/ with family and friends and through social media. Join our group!
This is also a way to show our bit of the world, Canberra our home, as seen by our eyes and this being Canberra’s birthday year, what better year to celebrate it! I have timed this walk for the afternoon light and with a mixture of greenery and architecture, so it should suit most tastes.
We were to have this PHOTOWALK Canberra last weekend at the National Arboretum, but their professional photography fee of $200 per hour meant we had to cancel last weekend’s walk, which made me a little bit upset and disappointed. You can read about it here:
We also made the City News and i was also interviewed on Canberra Radio 2CC.
BUT!!! just TODAY Chief Minister Katy Gallagher announced on twitter that the $200 professional fee has been scrapped and so our PHOTOWALK Canberra will be at The National Arboretum as planned!!! This is very exciting!!! Here is the announcement yesterday!!
So, we will meet in the main car park in the National Arboretum near the POD Playground and walk from there to the Wide Brown Land first and then to the Eagles Nest after that!!
