Police seek information after teens allegedly steal taxi at knifepoint

ACT Policing has appealed for the public’s help regarding an incident that saw two teens allegedly steal a taxi at knifepoint in Gowrie.

Police are seeking witnesses to incidents before the alleged aggravated robbery, which happened early on Sunday, 30 January 2022.

At about 6 am, two teen boys allegedly stopped a taxi and stole it at knifepoint on Ashley Drive in Gowrie.

The taxi was recovered a short time later in Banks. Following a search by police, the two 16-year-olds were located and charged with aggravated robbery.

Police believe the teens approached a number of vehicles in the Wanniassa, Monash and Gowrie area prior to the incident and are seeking witnesses and dash-cam footage relating to these activities.

No. They’re young. Give them a break. Oh wait they are too young to be held criminally responsible… maybe given them weapons handling training, and an award for their parents/careers for job well done.
