1. Trouble at the Lanyon Youth Centre:

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a burglary and arson which occurred at the Lanyon Youth Centre, Wednesday 21 April.

Police were called to the Lanyon Youth Centre, Sidney Nolan Street, Conder around 10:50pm following reports of a fire having been lit inside a vehicle parked inside an adjacent shed.

The fire subsequently caused damage estimated to be in excess of $40,000.

AFP Forensic Services attended and conducted an examination of the scene.

ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations members are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who knows the identity of the offender/s to contact Crime Stoppers.

2. Servo Bandit nabbed:

ACT Policing last night (Wednesday, April 21) executed a search warrant on a Pearce home which resulted in the arrest of an 18-year-old man suspected to be responsible for several recent aggravated robberies in Tuggeranong.

Police executed the warrant on the home around 8.35pm and seized a number of items as evidence.

It will be alleged by police that the 18-year-old made threats of violence to staff and robbed a Calwell service station on April 10, and another service station in Kambah on April 20. Police will also allege that the man was involved in an attempted robbery at the Hellenic Club on April 19, when a security guard was allegedly assaulted.

Police have charged the man with two counts of aggravated robbery, one of attempt robbery, one of aggravated assault (ABH) and possession of a prohibited substance, namely steroids. He was held in the ACT Watch House overnight and will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today.
