Climate change has spawned its very own science-fiction sub-genre, cli-fi, which explores techno-fixes as much as doomsday scenarios. Some of the imagined solutions are seriously off the planet, but not all techno-fixes are purely fictional.

Professor Barry Brook will square up to the mounting problems of climate change, pollution, energy security and dwindling supplies – and the need for a near-total transformation of the world’s energy systems.

Unfortunately I will be interstate when this come up because it is a fascinating area of discussion, only because it is being taken seriously in the USA, where the addiction to oil is so absolute they will contemplate anything, no matter how idiotic just to keep on shooting up the stuff.

For me this is the global equivalent of gastro-band surgery to fix chronic obesity. An unnecessary and dangerous “necessity” to fix an easily avoidable problem of your own making.

Having dug yourself into a hole, keep right on digging!

What mode of transport are you using to travel interstate?
We all know you despise roads so it will it be dirty diesel trains or av-gas guzzling aircraft?
