“Puss in Boots is a return to the traditions of the early theatre experience for many children, as such it should be full of fun.

“The panto will tell the true story of Puss in Boots. Kids aren’t stupid, they need to be entertained with respect. There’s no room these days for people to just run around the stage hitting each other on the head with padded waddies – the show has to make sense to children and appeal to their imaginations,” said director Kate Peters.

Kate Peters was a focal part of theatre life in the ACT as a stage performer, producer and director.

Kate had distinguished herself in succession of leading roles in such mainstage productions as Mame, Oliver, Company, Hello Dolly, Annie, Private Lives, Lola Montez, Bedroom, Farce, Noel & Gertie, and Man of La Mancha. She appeared regularly in Canberra Repertory’s annual Old Time Music Hall, and in several editions of Strike Up The Band with the Band of the Royal Military College, Duntroon, with which she toured Tasmania as a guest artist.

Since leaving Canberra, Kate has toured Tasmania and South Australia in the Christmas Cabaret show Red Hot and Broadway and undertaken a national tour in Daphne de Maurier’s Rebecca with Rowena Wallace and Christopher Timothy. She has also undertaken major roles in the TV series Flotsam & Jetsam and the telemovie Mercedes.

Puss in Boots runs Tuesday to Friday from 11 to 14 July; and Monday to Friday from 17 – 21 July at 10:00am and 12:30pm. Two special matinees Saturday 22 July at 11:00am and 1:30pm. Tickets are $23.00. To book contact The Street Theatre Box Office (02) 6247 1223.

i took the photos for the use in promos for the show. should be good for the kiddies and adults alike

I’d say at $23 dollars for a poor child to see Puss in Boots the boots must be stuffed full of Cash — Are you sure its not a show about Dick Turpin the Highwayman?

And yes, there will be multiple mentions of “dick” and “pussy” action throughout the script, so if you enjoy your double entendre about as subtle as a brick to the head, come along. 🙂

Yeah, I am Dick, the millers son. My father died and left the mill and the donkey to my other brothers, and I just got stuck with this old cat… but hang on… this cat seems to have some magical powers… do they come from that strange pair of old boots he is wearing…?? Will he be able to save the kingdom from the wicked ogre? Will he be able to hook up the lovely princess and the obivious but good hearted dick? All these questions will be answered….

Fun for the kids and, if you go in there with a suitably smutty mind, plenty of “are you being served” – esque rudeness for the grown ups.

And it is funny there is a scene where I get down to my bathing gear… not at all revealing – but should there be any clothing malfunctions … I guess the question of how big my part is will be answered…

And Terubo… I am assuming that piss in boots was the joke – but the kitty is house trained so there will be no issues there.

Noted, I think I’ll be taking my daughter to this one.

Ah, I saw your name on the poster, Jamius. I believe you’re playing the role of “Dick”.

So, is it a big part? (Yes, that pun is inevitable. And probably in the script somewhere)

Hey, Big Jim, that alone makes it worth coming to!
And what part do YOU play, m’boy?
Still can’t figure out Pandy’s comment above…maybe something about “Piss in Boots”?

Hey, I am actually in this. At last a post I know enough about to actually put in a meaningful comment about. Hang on, I’ll post my bio:

Jamie is an aquarius and likes long walks along the beach at sunset. He lives in a government flat with 27 stray dogs. He accidently wandered in to auditions thinking that he was going to an adult massage parlour.

Did you know “u” is next to “i” on a keyboard?

Did not Kate once live in Curtin and had a German Shepherd?
