“Puss in Boots is a return to the traditions of the early theatre experience for many children, as such it should be full of fun.
“The panto will tell the true story of Puss in Boots. Kids aren’t stupid, they need to be entertained with respect. There’s no room these days for people to just run around the stage hitting each other on the head with padded waddies – the show has to make sense to children and appeal to their imaginations,†said director Kate Peters.
Kate Peters was a focal part of theatre life in the ACT as a stage performer, producer and director.
Kate had distinguished herself in succession of leading roles in such mainstage productions as Mame, Oliver, Company, Hello Dolly, Annie, Private Lives, Lola Montez, Bedroom, Farce, Noel & Gertie, and Man of La Mancha. She appeared regularly in Canberra Repertory’s annual Old Time Music Hall, and in several editions of Strike Up The Band with the Band of the Royal Military College, Duntroon, with which she toured Tasmania as a guest artist.
Since leaving Canberra, Kate has toured Tasmania and South Australia in the Christmas Cabaret show Red Hot and Broadway and undertaken a national tour in Daphne de Maurier’s Rebecca with Rowena Wallace and Christopher Timothy. She has also undertaken major roles in the TV series Flotsam & Jetsam and the telemovie Mercedes.
