Raiders gipped by video referee

With only a couple of minutes to spare, Craig Frawley crashed over the line in Saturday night’s match against the Broncos in Brisbane. Tim Mander asked the video referee to adjudicate, and the Raiders were denied what was a clear try. Should the Raiders have been awarded that try the game would have almost certainly been forced to golden point.

The Raiders pushed the Broncos all the way. The final result was Broncos 24 Raiders 18. A match summary is available at the Canberra Times. Given other weekend results the Raiders are unchanged on the ladder and still remain a (remote) finals chance.

Until yesterday’s match against the Rabbitohs, Ralph was convinced that the Bulldogs would flog the Broncos in this year’s grand final. My prediction now is a Dragons v Broncos grand final.

Tim Mander has always been very anti-Raiders in every match I have ever seen him ref.

The interesting thing about Mander reffing the Raiders matches, is he gives just as many penalties to both sides (and sometimes incorrect in our favour) it’s just the timing of the penalties against us are always perfect to rescue the opponent from pressure.

why would we expect the video ref decisions to be good …after all most of the videos are failed on field refs (past failures as opposed to the ones currently failing every week in the middle).

Back to the anti-Canberra conspiracy surrounding the NRL. They simply couldn’t allow the lowly Raiders to beat one for their glamour sides.

Tim Mander has single-handedly knocked the stuffing out of the Raiders season. When you consider his abysmal refereeing of the Sharks match in Round 10 and his calls on Saturday he has a lot to answer for.

I must say that I was absolutely livid about that decision. Couldn’t believe that it was given no try.

The only two people on the planet that said no try, were Chris Ward (video ref) and Wayne Bennett.

We played really well though, and looked as if we might pull off an upset.
