Boutique real estate agency Cream Residential, winner of the REIACT 2014 Small Agency of the Year Award, is reaping the benefits of a complete brand transformation 12 months ago.

Director Chris Wilson says that after consulting with a branding team, what had been known as Cameron Real Estate for over 30 years last year became Cream Residential.

“People knew that we were good at property management, but they didn’t really know that we are strong in sales too. We worked to change that perception, and it’s been very successful so far,” he says.

The rebrand, which Wilson says is likely to have played a role in Cream Residential’s recent award win, involved a name change, a new website, extra investment into professional development and technology, as well as new marketing materials.

“When we rebranded, we invested a lot of money back in to our office and into software and training. Our office is well structured and up there with the latest technologies. In property management, for example, owners can login to a web portal to view information about their properties. Landlords overseas love it, and so do tenants,” he says.

“One thing that we offer that I know the bigger agencies don’t is buyer booklets. These are high quality publications that present homes in a professional way. They’ve generated a lot of business for us,” he says.

The results speak for themselves. Last year, Hughes-based Cream Residential, which counts Wilson and colleague Anthony McCormack as its only sales agents, sold just over 50 properties.

“In a small agency like ours, that’s very productive. This year, we’re aiming for in excess of six sales per month to bring us to just over 72 for the year,” Wilson says.

Cream Residential’s sales figures have also been boosted by a strong Canberra property market, with increased demand for houses in Woden, Weston Creek and the Inner South.

“We can’t get enough houses to sell in those areas. Units and apartments have come back in price, but houses are doing very well,” he says.

He says that sellers interested in great customer service & the ability to achieve a high market price for their home should consider listing their properties with a boutique agency like Cream Residential.

“With bigger agencies they often tell clients that the whole agency is working for you, but that’s not always the case,” he says.

“With us, you get a high level of personal service. We provide regular feedback and weekly reports every Tuesday. We’re flexible and keep an open channel of communication with our clients.”

I worked with Chris many years ago, he is a proven professional and a very unassuming guy, which is rare in real estate.

Great article. I hadn’t made the connection between Cameron Real Estate and Cream. The rebrand looks like it’s been very successful and Cream’s website is impressive.
