The ANU Laptop Ensemble, and the wider collective of coders and creative sonifiers it represents, are putting forward innovative music and visuals for your listening pleasure. They, along with special guest Fiona Sullivan, will be performing a free performance of live coding, experimental sounds and processed voice called Smoke at the ANU School of Music on Thursday evening.
Songwriter and caramel slice connoisseur Cathy Diver and current road companion The Burley Griffin will be bringing their Australian tour home to Smith’s Alternative on Friday. Expect nuanced songwriting and a community atmosphere as two of Canberra’s finest artists join forces for a not-to-be-missed show. Support comes from the excellent Scoob McGoon.
Indie rockers Babe Fiasco launch their latest single at The Polo on Friday, and Learner’s Permit take to The Front on Saturday for their all-ages first headline show. The end of an era goes down on Saturday at The Polo as beloved local band Neon Highways say goodbye to the stage for good.
SoundOut Festival is back for its 11th year. This event sees musicians from around the world congregating at the Drill Hall Gallery for a weekend of experimental sounds, ambient music and explorative sonic arts. If that all sounds a bit overwhelming, fear not. This is actually one of the most welcoming and rewarding music experiences of the year and those feelings are only compounded for newcomers.
