Melbourne alt-R&B artist Thando stops in at Smith’s Alternative this Saturday. The Zimbabwean-born singer-songwriter has earned a reputation as one of the country’s most commanding performers, with singles like ‘Happy’ and 2018’s Remi-featuring ‘NUMB’. Keep an eye on the event page in case any last-minute tickets become available for this sold-out show.
Canberra Theatre Centre returns to the live music arena this week with a triple-header of Canberra heavy music heavyweights. Pod People, Wretch and Lucifungus are set to become the hardest-hitting bands ever to perform in the theatre’s Link Bar. Whether or not the music is your cup of tea, the fact that in-person events are back on the cards at the theatre is a welcome development.
Rock band Spinning Plates is continuing to introduce themselves as they prepare to hit the stage at The Basement alongside The Dirty Sunflowers and The Barren Spinsters. The band take cues from iconic groups like Radiohead, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, making for a hard rock sound that draws from the past while bringing something new.
CTC at Home continues this week as well, with two of Canberra’s most beloved music organisations taking centre stage across Wednesday and Friday. Girls Rock! Canberra and Music For Canberra have their own dedicated programs to take you through in their live streams.
