Meet our lovable Pets of the Week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

Lucy and Indiana are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These gorgeous animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below.

Dog of the Week – Lucy

Lucy has quickly become a firm favourite of the staff and volunteers alike since she arrived at the shelter. She can often be found snoozing in the administration building if she’s not too busy receiving pats and attention from the vet clinic.

Lucy is a beautifully gentle dog with people. She is a total cuddle monster who adores being patted, scratched and cooed over. You can always tell Lucy is enjoying the attention when she gives you a big grin and energetic tail wag! She would make an ideal companion to snuggle up with in front of the TV.

Lucy walks nicely in her harness and enjoys her daily strolls. You don’t need to be a fitness fanatic to be Lucy’s ideal companion. If you enjoy daily exercise, Lucy will make a great walking buddy.

In her time at the shelter, Lucy has shown that she can meet other dogs; however, we’d recommend that she be an only dog in the house. She does get along with all people famously, though, so we think she’d suit a family with kids 10 years and older.

Will lovely Lucy be your lucky girl?

Indiana

Are you looking for a feline friend? Indiana might be your cat!

Cat of the Week – Indiana

Indiana is a distinguished cat. She was surrendered to the shelter after being unable to cope when her family had a baby. Indiana was not a fan of sharing attention so she’s on the lookout for a home where she can be the number one (and only) priority.

Indiana took a bit of time to adjust to the shelter. We had to work hard to get this lady on side, but you can’t blame her? She’s a discerning kitty! For this reason, Indiana will need quite a specific home to move into.

It is most likely she will be very shy when she first moves in. But this wallflower is no shrinking violet; she’ll certainly let you know she’s in the house. Indiana would benefit from having her own chill-out space at first to relax and settle into her new environment. Once she is comfortable, Indiana will show you her sweet side.

She loves to roll about at your feet and show off her little tum. If she likes you, she’ll reward you with endless purrs of affection, and if you’re really lucky, a little tongue lick here and there.

One thing that is a non-negotiable for Indiana is other pets and children. This is a strong independent kitty who hasn’t got time for entertaining other pets or small people.

Indiana might be a tricky kitty to some, but she’ll be a lovely friend and loyal companion to people who know cats and learn her quirks.

Visit the RSPCA at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life – you won’t regret it!
