Meet our lovable pets of the week looking for forever homes at the RSPCA ACT Shelter!

Comet the cat and Ruby the rabbit are this week’s friendly Pets of the Week! These lovely animals are waiting to find their perfect match. Think that could be you? Read more about them below!

Cat of the week: Comet

This girl is meant to be an opera or pop singer because she’ll greet you at the top of her voice and loves to be the star of the show. She’s a tabby Domestic Short Hair – and a massive diva.

Recently, a TV crew was filming some kittens for a story and Comet climbed up her condo to ear-level of the cameraman and yelled in his ear until he took footage of her. She made it onto the nightly news for a moment even though the story had nothing to do with her!

She’s an indoor cat who’d love an outdoor run to stretch her legs and explore. She’d make the perfect sidekick for a child, but as is the case with most divas, she’s not keen to share the spotlight, so she needs to be the only pet in the home (**rolls eyes**).

Comet really is out of this world and ready to be an amazing pet. Came and chat with her at the RSPCA ACT shelter in Weston.

Rabbit of the week: Ruby

Ruby is the most cuddly and friendliest of rabbits and would love to live at your house. She’s an agouti and white Flemish Giant and weighs four kilograms, which is 4 kg of love and affection for you.

Her previous owner was unable to keep her, but she’s still only young at one year old. She was house-trained in her original home and will easily learn where and where not to go in her new abode.

Ruby loves company and will even follow you around. When she wants a pat, she’ll gently headbutt you.

She’ll need a large indoor space or an outdoor run with insulation and weatherproofing, and she won’t mind sharing with other desexed rabbits. If you want a pet rabbit to act like a pet dog or cat, Ruby is your girl.

Paw note: We have great news – Alfie the Staffordshire Terrier, who’d spent 53 days at the shelter, has been adopted! We’ll miss him, but we’re so happy.

Visit RSPCA ACT today at 12 Kirkpatrick St, Weston, and add a new companion to your life. You won’t regret it!
