I have just started the basics of my wedding planning! The best articles I have found are older posts on this site so I am hoping for some updated advice from you all.

I am looking for a rustic wedding reception venue. For example, a barn that will have a ceremony area nearby, a large outdoor space to be able to play some games before dinner and an open lay-out to have a fast food van provide the catering close to the undercover area. There will be 50-80 guests.

Has anyone used Mulloon Creek Natural Farms? I like this idea but am not sure of pricing. I am on a small budget! I would love to hear what you think of venue’s this far out of town and whether the distance is too much of an inconvenience.

I am also conscious that I am looking at a December wedding so cooling is a factor as I can imagine a tin shed getting too hot.

I have the idea of supplying my own drinks and hiring some acquaintances to act as bartenders but see the biggest obstacle to be keeping everything cool! Do you have any tips/success stories to share?

If anyone has some rustic wedding decorations they no longer need I would love to re-purpose them!

All other helpful hints are greatly appreciated!

Cuppacumbalong is a great venue. Not sure if they still do functions there.

These guys do weddings. Family owned and very rustic (with a bit of luxury thrown in)

When you say near, how far is that? I imagine Goulburn, Braidwood, etc may have what you’re looking for. Kelburn farm just out of Goulburn doesn’t look a bad place. How about the Peter Crisp gallery and property just out of Bowning on the way to Yass?

The ones which come to my mind immediately would be the Yarralumla Woolshed, the Kambah woolshed (very ‘rustic’ and very cheap – this would be the budget option) or the Tuggeranong Homestead.
