Try this place for example. Worked out costs $US25 to ship to Montomery AL for one case.

I want to send him a case of… anything, actually. It’s more the gesture than the beer.

Although he has said that Coronas taste different here than they do over there.

When you’re drinking Coronas for half the price, they are bound to taste different! But seriously, the shipping on a case of beer who be astronomical. I recently sent a care package in a small PostPack box of Tim Tams, Twisties, BBQ shapes etc, and the postage was ~$40 (for contents to the value of $12!). This included a $9 levy US postal whacks on because they are going broke.

You are better off looking for an online beer store in the US that stocks an Australian beer and send him one that way.

Why not just ship direct from http://bevmo.com? They sell Coopers…

Yes yes, you can laugh about it now. But you know what I meant. There are other varieties of wines that aren’t common here that are worth bringing in for something different.

Along with snow to the Eskimos, sand to the Arabs, and coals to Newcastle?

Show me an Australian Zinfandel and then you can laugh about it.

For laughs, send him living beer and mark it “yeast cultures” on the customs declaration.

Two things. The postie told us you can’t ship wine from Australia into the US. Don’t know if it’s true and don’t know what it means for beer.

Second, what type of beer, because odds on they already have it. While living in the US, bought VB, Tooheys Blue (was Australia day and desperate OK) and all manner of Coopers from normal supermarkets. It was cheaper there than here to boot, I kid you not. Think I saw Boags as well. Remember, this was stuff I wasn’t even looking that hard for.

I can’t think of any good beers made here

Yeah you should have stopped right there with that sentence.

Australian “beer” is awful compared to any good European beer which I would bet are already imported into the US.

I can’t think of any good beers made here that don’t have a near identical equivalent (which was probably even the inspiration for the local beer) that costs less than half as much in the US, even before you consider shipping. The US has been undergoing a beer revolution for the last thirty years so tell him to get out there and enjoy it! I suppose it’s nostalgia is it?

That said as far as getting it in to the US, there’s a fairly active beer trading scene between the US and Europe, so I suspect they’re a lot more relaxed than over here. I’d suggest doing your own research on that one though.

I regularly ship wine to Australia from California so I don’t see why not. You would need to check out what the laws are and what taxes need to be paid. I have to pay a small fortune in excise for my wine, but it is worth it since I can’t get it over here,

I would try googling fopr a company that does import-export of alcohol and see if they can help you out.

highly doubt it – what state is it?
