Attorney General Simon Corbell has announced his response to Keith Hamburger’s reports on the operation of the Alexander Maconochie Centre (the prison to you and I).

The Government has agreed or agreed in principle to all of the 133 recommendations made by Mr Hamburger.

“Areas for highest priority focus include governance, records management, arrangements in the crisis support unit and food,” Mr Corbell said.

“In connection with the crisis support unit, actions are already underway to undertake a broad review of occupational health and safety concerns and other arrangements in that area specifically.

“In keeping with recent changes to the structuring of a single ACT Public Service, arrangements have already begun to ensure my directorate and the Health directorate work collaboratively together to ensure the best practicable outcomes for detainees’ health.

“The AMC Taskforce and the new Executive Director of Corrective Services have already begun to involve many external stakeholders as part the process of implementing the Government’s response to the reports. It is important to ensure that we include and consider the views of our many stakeholders whether they are staff, other Government agencies or community bodies.

133 recommendations… wonder if we can cut down on those if I say “hold the pickles”.

Here’s the Hamburger report in a condensed form. Maccas are still selling the Big Mac. No Angus burger at the moment, you’ll have to go to Hungry Jacks for that. Hungry Jacks has the Double Whopper. People are still not buying the salads.

I’m not sure why but this article has made me hungry. I think it’s time for maccas
