From the main gate to the vineyard, this landmark Braidwood home will delight and enchant with undeniable charm and country practicality.

Luton Properties Sales Agent in ACT and NSW Miriana Cavic said 12 Durran Durra Place was a well-known attraction in Braidwood and beyond.

“Everyone who drives past that road knows the big white house,” she said.

“When you drive to it, you just have to stop for a second and say, ‘Wow!'”

Miriana said the Victorian-era design had left a clear mark on the property, also known as Durran Durra.

“It has beautiful 10-foot-high ceilings with cornices, period light pieces, archways and fireplaces.”

But recent renovations mean prospective owners will also enjoy modern creature comforts.

The Victorian-style homestead boasts six bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The master bedroom has an ensuite and walk-in wardrobe, while the kitchen features stone bench tops, a period rangehood and a vintage Bellings cooktop and oven. The size of the home means that family members, friends and guests can each have their own space while still being together.

“It’s got that country feel, where you all work in the big kitchen with a big pantry out the back,” Miriana said.

“It also has so many different spaces where people can co-exist without seeing each other.

“Every room has a big window looking out to the green, and it’s got a verandah surrounding the whole property, giving you somewhere to sit.”

Outside the home, the verandah offers the perfect place to sit with a cup of coffee or glass of wine watching the sunset.

And, if you’re one of the lucky ones with a green thumb, the property has its own vineyard, berry and vegetable patches, a greenhouse and an orchard with more than 140 fruit trees.

There is also an American-style barn, machinery shed, water tank and bore, a carport with three parking spaces, a bee hive and two dams.

A previous owner established the vineyard, along with winepresses and other winemaking facilities.

Set on eight hectares, the property is perfect for someone looking to escape the rush of city living or a farmer who wants to downsize a little but can’t bring themselves to fully ‘retire’ from the land.

“It’s a family home, but it could also be used for entertaining,” the agent said.

“If you wanted to do weekend getaways, it’s got that vibe as well.”

She said the vineyard and facilities could be put to work, or the owner could simply spend their time enjoying the tranquillity.

“It’s still a beautiful home with beautiful surrounds either way.”

The next owner will be just 10 minutes from Braidwood (and one hour to Canberra) at a time when the town is undergoing somewhat of a renaissance, Miriana said.

“There are a lot of country towns that are now becoming a big hit, with good Airbnbs and other attractions – Braidwood is turning into one of those. You used to drive through to the coast, but now people are stopping there.

“I think it’s becoming more of a destination in its own right.”
