The Canberra Times has the happy news that star hooker Stephen Moore isn’t leaving Canberra after all:
Moore is in Darwin with the Brumbies for their trial match against the Queensland Reds tonight.
He is believed to have turned his back on European offers and is expected to make an announcement as soon as today.
Moore’s signature will provide considerable relief for the Wallabies and the ACT with European clubs targeting the majority of off-contract Australian stars.
It could be followed within days by the re-signing of Adam Ashley-Cooper, who is believed to be close to agreeing to terms on a new deal.
Moore, 28, will become the first off-contract high-profile Wallabies player to officially commit to Australian rugby beyond the end of the year.
This is a great relief for Brumbies fans let me tell you.
