Teenager to face court charged with trespass and assaulting a police officer

A teenager who allegedly assaulted a police officer last night after he was allegedly caught trespassing in Coombs, will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (21 May).

The 19-year-old Duffy man will face charges of common assault and trespass.

About 1:10 am, police responded to a report of a possible trespass on a residential development on Colbung Street and Fairhall Street, Coombs.

ACT Policing said officers searched the premises and found the teenager attempting to flee.

It said that when officers approached the man he grabbed an item from the building and struck one of the officers on the shoulder and back.

The man was taken to the ACT Watch House and charged with obstructing/resisting a Territory public official, common assault, trespassing on premises and possessing an offensive weapon with intent.
