The planters… All Gone!

By johnboy - 7 April 2009 29

Thanks to Timgee for pointing out that Civic’s petunia planters have all disappeared.

Here you can see they’ve gone from Bunda Street

We can only hope they return soon with winter plantings.

And all gone in Garema Place.

And gone from City Walk.

What’s Your opinion?

The planters were crap. Go to the main street of Queanbo to see how petunias should be done.

Seeing as how I’m 250 kms away from Queanbo, do you happen to have a photo?

Lady on 666 this morning from the group who organised the planters, said they’d be back next November. They were unable to find winter-flowering annuals with a trailing habit so no planters for the cold weather. Surely there’d be something that would fit the bill?

how about cactii – good for all year round, drought resistant to boot, plus built-in security against vandals.

LMFAO! Perfect Furry Jesus!

What about some alternative uses for the rings in the meantime? I’d suggest we use them to hang people who offend against the good natures of the people who spend time in Civic – charities collectors come to mind.

Gosh, even if it were greenery of some description instead of flowers would still look lovely compared to nothing.

I was talking to some old duckies from Sydney whilst on the bus the other day and they were exclaiming (yes – exclaiming!!) about how lovely the planters were, and they hadn’t seen them before. I do hope they are replaced?

Edible cabbages would be better for the homeless.

johnboy 3:41 pm 07 Apr 09

I was thinking some nice ornamental cabbages?

Now it just looks like a bunch of Apple “command” keys have been left around the place. 😛

They brought some colour to the heart of Civic and will be missed. Are they coming back later in the year?

Perhaps they could put a “fire in a barrel” in each one of those red hoops, to keep my head warm if I walk around town?

:’-(

I heard the guy who looks after them on ABC radio a couple of weeks ago. He said they were going to come down about now but I don’t think he said they would be back over winter which is a shame.
