Alternative indie electronic locals Peach Lane (pictured) haven’t quite been around for a year yet, but have laid their spell over many a Canberran already with their brand of “hazy synths, dreamy guitar lines and smooth vocals”. They will be playing as part of a huge single launch for fellow synth band Powder Blue, also playing with the likes of Neko Pink, Kilroy and Dog Name at Transit Bar on Thursday, starting 7:30 pm.
Head on over to the Canberra Theatre over the weekend to check out Hyperspace and Unbecoming, which will be featuring local acts Pheno, Reuben Ingall, Happy Axe and Aphir. On Friday, one of the all-time great albums – Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours – will be getting the rave dance music treatment over at Mr Wolf from 10 pm, while Smith’s Alternative hosts Funk Dancing For Self Defence with Northbourne Flats from 9:30 pm.
Come Saturday there is lots going on in the nation’s capital, including Death Cab For Cutie over at the Canberra Theatre, while Brisbane rockers Port Royal will be launching their latest single with Small Talk, Narcs and Sunbears over at The Basement from 8 pm. Later on at Smith’s, balladeer Tom Woodward will be back in town, opening for Declan Kelly’s Canberra leg of his “Carry Me” tour, starting 9:30 pm.
