ACT Policing has issued a regional call for any driver with dashcam footage to contact them in relation to Sunday’s suspicious death in Rivett, as investigations continue.

Police are asking for anyone who was driving in the Canberra, Queanbeyan and surrounding areas with dashcam footage between the hours of 4am and 6am on Sunday, 17 December  to contact theme on (02) 6256 7777.

They said the male victim had been identified but his name would not be released until next of kin had  been notified.

Goodenia Street in Rivett has been reopened but the property where a man died from suspicious injuries on Sunday morning is a crime scene and remains taped off.

A police van with an officer has been posted outside the two-storey townhouse, on the corner of Goodenia Street and Casuarina Street,  with the front, rear and side access to the property taped off.

Police said that early on Sunday morning the badly injured man had made his way to the front door of the property to seek help.

Police were called to the property about 5.20 am and found the man on the doorstep. They attempted first aid, as did ACT Ambulance Service paramedics, but could not save the man from dying of his injuries.

Detective Station Sergeant Matthew Reynolds said on Sunday that the dead man was not known to the townhouse occupants, who were not involved in any way.

He would not say how he died, other than to say it was not from gunshot.

Police had sealed off Goodenia Street, with police blocking the entry from Casuarina Street and from about midway down, coming from Burgan Place.

They scoured the surrounds looking for something, which might be a weapon. Late Sunday afternoon police were seen searching a drain in nearby Bangalay Crescent.

Detective Station Sergeant Reynolds said at this stage the death was not related to Outlaw Motorcycle Gang violence or a drug deal gone wrong. There had not been a late night party in the area.

He said the residents of Goodenia Street were assisting police with their inquiries and police were urging anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area between 3 and 6 am to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Do we still not know the id of the deceased? Pretty scary for those of us that live in the area & need to go to the shops considering this was pretty close to shops & Noah’s Ark childcare. Also in wake of the recent armed hold up of the Rivett newsagents. Hope the police can get to the bottom of both.
