Despite claims from Katy Gallagher of ‘topping the nation’ on waiting times, the COAG report released today on the performance of public hospitals actually shows the ACT had the worst performance in the nation for emergency department timeliness and had either the worst or near the worst performance across most of the nine elective surgery targets, revealed Opposition Leader Jeremy Hanson.
“Because our targets are set so low compared to other jurisdictions as a result of ongoing poor performance, it can be claimed that the ACT met its targets. The fact is those targets are set up to 35% lower than other jurisdictions, which can hide the true state of our performance.
