The ABC has joined other local media in getting star struck by NASA administrator Charles Bowden’s visit to check out works at Tidbinbilla’s Canberra Deep Space Communication Complex.
Don’t get me wrong what they do out there is truly amazing and well worth a visit if you haven’t been.
But they’ve been at it for 60 odd years now.
It’s nice that the local team will be handling the Mars rover landing. But it’s not a matter of winning anything, it’s just where the turning of the earth will take them at landing time.
As for the construction of new dishes. Gosh, was that announced in 2010? I think it was.
