Just arrived in my email inbox…

Have you ever stood up for yourself or someone else?

Can you think of something that you might do in future to stand up for
yourself or someone else?

If you’re aged 8 to 17 and live in the ACT, tell us by writing a story
or poem, designing a poster, or recording a song or performance.

The competition aims to encourage children and young people to think
about their own rights, and the rights of others, and the sometimes
simple ways these rights can be protected.

You’ll have the chance to win $500 in gift vouchers.

Plus you could spend Universal Children’s Day (Wednesday 28 October
2009) being the Children & Young People Commissioner for a day.

For more information see the attached flyer, or phone Brianna on 6205
2222, or email ACTkids@act.gov.au

Such things should be encouraged more often . Now a days youth is just caught up in the web of Technology which is not developing their overall personality. It is just Facebook, whatsapp etc etc.

What a fantastic idea! I think it’s great to try and movitate kids to think about sticking up for others, and what a cool prize – way more exciting than a Wii or a Playstation!

I think we should be spreading the word about this. If we hope to eliminate a culture of bullying this is a good start in the right direction. Kids will hopefully realise that they can and have made a difference in somebody’s life. That they can and have been a hero. I’m going to tell my teen about it.
