A Turner man has been charged with furious driving and driving with a suspended licence following an alleged road rage incident at the weekend.

It was reported that on Sunday (17 September) at about 5:40 pm, the driver of a white Toyota Hilux began tailgating and intimidating another vehicle along the Majura Parkway.

The Hilux’s driver then allegedly cut the other vehicle off and brake-checked them before stopping abruptly in a left turn lane, blocking any other vehicle from passing.

The driver of the allegedly targeted vehicle chose to drive over the kerb to avoid further confrontation.

A passenger in the targeted vehicle filmed the incident and provided it to police.

The sad reality is that is peak-hour on Majura parkway is rife with manic tradies driving like lunatics. If it isnt the tradies, its a road train truckie hauling his load of concrete pipes at 125 kph.

Let’s get to the basics canb drivers are lazy selfish road wasting individuals who have. 7 car gaps in between cars lol u just wonder how about driving like real people maybe😂😂

I’m in no way condoning this drivers behaviour, but there must surely be more to this not shown on the video. Wonder what happened to trigger this stupidity?

I’m not sure what people are getting all worked up over. Furious driving, tailgating, intimidation it’s all part and parcel of driving in Canberra.

How often have we, as Canberrans been told that our city is dull and boring. Mr Hilux was following a time honoured tradition as a Canberra driver, driving furiously, tailgating and flashing his lights.

And as for his shouting as he was driving past these motorists, he was just welcoming them to Canberra!

Having watched the video of this incident, I’d say the starting point for this guy should be a lifelong driving ban. Add a few months in jail to reflect on the error of his ways.

The young driver and passengers did well to remain calm during this deliberately frightening and sustained attack. https://www.facebook.com/9NewsAdelaide/videos/913756667050646/?extid=NS-UNK-UNK-UNK-AN_GK0T-GK1C&mibextid=6aamW6
