Write for Rights is an annual campaign for Amnesty International. More than 2 million letters were written last year, and over 140 countries were involved.

This year, we will be focusing on six important cases. One case is Daniel, a 21 year old student in Venezuela who was arrested on the way home from an anti-government demonstration and beaten and tortured by members of the military. We can send letters of solidarity to Daniel, and to the Venezuelan president to demand justice. We will also be sending letters to the Egyptian president to call for the immediate release of Al Jazeera staff Peter Greste, Mohamed Fahmy and Baher Mohamed. Find out about other cases at the Amnesty International website www.amnesty.org.au/activist/campaign-resource/35795

Canberrans can get involved by attending a Write for Rights event Sunday 30th November at King OMalleys. It will be a relaxed afternoon, meeting other people who care about human rights and having a chat a couple of drinks. Pens and paper will be provided, all are welcome.

When: Sunday, 30th November. From 2pm.
