Last night the Liberals’ Andrew Wall (Brindabella) came down to Honkytonks to strut his lego stuff.

Andrew’s priorities included: Sports facilities upgrades, reduced fees for using those facilities, more money for schools of all stripes, an urgent care clinic staffed with doctors and nurses, free shuttle buses to town centres, improved street lights, improved footpaths and bike paths, help for first home buyers to purchase established properties, a land bank to improve greenfield supply, green waste bins to help clean up Lake Tuggeranong, more street sweeping, expansive car parks, high density housing, lower rates, a prison with no syringes, and a motorsport complex for recreation and driver training.

But don’t take my word for it, he explains all in the video.

I’d like to note there was a misunderstanding with Honkytonks about the nature of these candidate challenges. We’d like to really thank Andrew (and his friends, family, and supporters) for handling a disruption that other candidates have not had to endure with calm, aplomb, and good humour. We’d also like to thank Playground for accommodating us at short notice. Playground is really building a rep for great customer service with good reason.

The next one is scheduled is Speaker Shane Rattenbury MLA (Greens for Molonglo) on 25 September at Duxton.

(Candidates who haven’t slotted themselves in are advised that there will be no candidate challenges after 8 October [we’ve been able to extend it a bit] and we need a week’s notice, so they better get in quick, and should email john@the-riotact.com )

Here’s our nifty calendar, you the public are reminded that you’re very welcome to come along to these things:

I was there at the time and can also attest that all the Libs were good as gold (like their t-shirts), cheerful, engaging and (gulp! am I saying this out loud) pleasant to have a beer and a laugh with.

And yes, I’m intrigued about Playground. I was only there for a short time and didn’t get a beer there, but it just gave off waves and vibes of goodness and welcoming, homey heapin’ fulls of hospitality.

You now have me curious about what happened at Honkytonks.
How much trouble can lego enthusiasts and politicans really cause on a Wednesday night in Canberra?

There was no trouble. And I really can’t say more here.

Apologies, now with the video.
