An 18-year-old man from Page will face the ACT Children’s Court today (6 June) charged with the murder of Phillip man Glenn Walewicz in June 2021.

After a year-long investigation by ACT Policing Homicide Squad detectives, the man was arrested yesterday.

The investigation saw multiple lines of enquiry, including examining hundreds of hours of CCTV footage, analysing phone records and speaking to numerous witnesses.

Detective Inspector Mark Steel said his arrest is a direct result of the tenacity and dedication of the investigating officers.

“To see one person charged with murder and another with being an accessory to the crime is a great result, but there’s certainly more to do. This will hopefully provide some comfort for Mr Walewicz’s family that the detectives are still working hard on this investigation some 12 months on,” Detective Inspector Steel said.

The man will face the ACT Children’s Court today as he was aged 17 at the time of the alleged offence.

Police are renewing their calls for anyone who has any information regarding this matter to come forward to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.

More to come.
