In Full Swing, Canberra’s most vibrant big band, will be swinging the Hellenic Club in June.

Along with swing dancers from the Canberra Swing Katz, they’re presenting ‘Well Swung’ – an exciting evening of swing music, dance and entertainment on Friday 28 June.

In Full Swing has been entertaining Canberra audiences for over 20 years at a range of venues including Parliament House, Albert Hall and Stage 88. The local musicians are regulars at Floriade and the Merimbula Jazz Festival, as well as a variety of regional events.

Their last two dinner dance events were sell-outs, and this year’s performance is already filling up, with tickets selling fast to music lovers who are keen to be part of the live recording taking place at the event.

The added attraction of the Canberra Swing Katz will add even more sparkle and movement to the evening. They’ll be performing a choreographed dance routine to show off their show-stopping moves, as well as helping to fill the dance floor with swing style all night.

But musical director Nathan Sciberras assures us there will be plenty of room for the audience to join them.

“Our 1930s and 1940s jazz and swing music is infectious, so it’s easy to get everyone out on the dance floor,” Nathan says.

“We love to see the audience dancing – it energises us and it’s a key component of all In Full Swing gigs.”

Tickets are available from the Hellenic Club on 6281 0899. Book an evening’s entertainment plus a three-course meal for only $55, or choose a show-only ticket for $25. Dinner starts at 6.30 pm, and the music kicks off at 8.00 pm.

I assumed this was a Skywhale story, just by the headline.

I thought it was one of those discrete parties where bringing a partner is mandatory. Otherwise, if single, you have to be nominated by an existing member.

Organised third-partying sounds so pathetic, don’t you think?

And it’s discreet, not discrete.

Oh I’m sure those parties stand apart from all the other parties.

If they are discrete, you seem to be in the know and where is my invitation?
