Barton Hwy Speed Cameras?

Does anybody know if both directions are monitored between Gungahlin Dr and Ellenborough St?

You have what appears to be the flash unit and the radar box pointing in one direction (sure it’s Eastbound) however just the smaller flash unit is pointing westbound.

Is this a dummy set up similar to Lanyon Dr southbound?

Induction loops not pressure sensors, they are often hidden beneath resurfacing works and, depending on the type of camera, they’re not always needed.

My recollection is they are installed on both sides.

Nope, only on one side. I suspect the Canberra bound lanes are actually covered by it, nothing on the road surface and I note the second of two warnings signs about the camera looks to be located too late.

Of course if the AFP get their way with the drone idea, watch out for signs popping up all over the place like along the Hume warning of “Aerial Speed Enforcement”

Slightly OT but could be to someone’s assistance.

Two fixed speed cameras have constant video recording as well.

These are located at the Hindmarsh Drive/Canberra Avenue and the Northbourne Ave/Antill St intersections.

So if you make a mistake, and inadvertently cross the white line when you were expecting a green arrow, and then stop, the video will prove you have (hopefully) stopped, and therefore not be hit with a fine.

Well spotted. There is no camera so I would assume not,

There is however nothing pointing at the southbound lanes of Lanyon Drive….

The Camera warning signs are also displayed southbound (but no camera or pressure strips)

My understanding, supported by observation, is that sometimes it points one way, and sometimes it points the other way.

I believe it is set up that way so that they can turn the radar around to face the other way.
