I don’t think you should get charged for attempted murder unless you attempt to murder someone. 180km/h in an 80 zone has the potential to kill many people yes, but so does doing 80 in an 80 zone, doing 40 in an 80 zone, driving while drunk, using the phone while driving, having bald tyres etc. Hell, you could be driving perfectly and have a mechanical failure which causes your car to veer off and kill a bunch of people. An attempted murder charge for speeding is stupid.

Time to get serious and charge those sorts of arsehats with attempted murder each and every time. I thought they tightened the rules in NSW after that little girl died, but it still seems like if through good luck alone an arsehat doesn’t cause any harm they kinda get away with it even though their intention was to be as randomly dangerous and irresponsible as possible.

Recycle the car into something useful and if the owner can’t be identified as the driver charge him with supplying a deadly weapon with an equivalent sentence. And no sob story about how he needs the car for work or his family needs him to have the car to drive them places.

Sad that they didn’t get the number plate. That might have helped.

All the certification is done by Holden.

no I meant from a marketing and sales point of view. The car is sold as a HSV Clubsport, not as a Holden Clubsport

There can’t be too many of those particular vehicles around. I reckon the rozzers should be able to nail him fairly shortly. I can’t see them letting that sort of nonsense pass through to the keeper.

Heaps of Clubsports around and unfortunately, the older models are affordable to half wits like this. Should be able to get a picture of the car, but they won’t be able to id the driver from it.
