As the owner of the dogs in question I would like to say my dogs are/were lazy quiet and loving to all people and other animals.. Ask ANY of our neighbours they never barked at sirens, fireworks, planes.. nothing.

And NEVER attacked anyone.

This is some random f***head that has decided for whatever reason to destroy our family..

So please do not even imply my babies deserved this.

Dogowner – your precious puppies certainly didn’t deserve what happened to them and it’s a very sad and shocking story. I really feel for you. I have a beautiful shepherd who was poisoned last year, but thankfully we got him to Jan Spate (Hall horse vet/animal genius) in time and she saved his life.

The scum who did this are truly cowards of the lowest order.

Thanks DAVEY helps a bit 🙂 sounds like the dog just needed a bit of attention and lots of walks mine start digging if they don’t get walked or run around the yard after a few days ,but with kids running around yard everyday this rarely happens.

really when will people learn if you own a dog (especailly larger and cattledogs)they need lots of time spent with them and plenty of exesise.

…my little one can destroy a XXL adult “KONG” in under an hour belivie me it wasn’t worth the $55 even if it did have a pic of a rotti on it, saying it was for an adult rotti.

In this instance it was a neighbourly (aggressive dog digging under the fence) issue.

On a positive side, youll be happy to hear I have a 10-month old pup from one of the dogs that was mauled, who looks 98% like a pure rottie, but the only thing shes aggressive to is sticks and rope toys.

DAVEY just read the storey but would still like to know where the attacks took place if you know weather they were in the street while the other dogs were with their owners or in backyards of the dogs. I’am really sad to hear that the breed was cross rotti it always gives the whole breed and owners like myself a bad rap.

that’s easier if you own small dogs but to have 3 ST bernards inside at night like the victim of this act would be a little hard I myself know owning 3 rottweilers who live outside in a very large dog house specailly built for them,my neighbours don’t mind them much as my dogs let them know when strangers are around.

Domestic Animal Services, the RSPCA and the Court allowing the dog to go back to it’s owner makes me think that there is more to this case than you have reported here.

If this dog was a vicious as it is being made out to be, I doubt it would be the aggreived person needing to take action.

If it was as badly handled as you are indicating, did he not try and appeal the decision?

dvaey – there are appropriate channels for dealing with dangerous dogs…Pro-actively taking matters into your own hands is not one of them…Tell the authorities, use the correct channels…

Ugh…arguing for the sake of arguing now are we ? With standard riotact class. I obviously meant I take my frustrations out on owners. I’ll show caution to be more literal with my posts in hope that it removes the need for you to post rubbish.

A friend of mine has lost 3 dogs and been mauled twice by his neighbours dog, but no-one will touch the dog beacuse its owned by a little old lady. But, if my mate was to try and poison the dog to protect his remaining dog or even to protect his children, he’d be in the wrong. Not that Im saying theres ever a reason for it, but sometimes with irresponsible owners, I can understand why some people feel the only option is to take matters into their own hands.

So its unusual for you to take your frustrations out on the dogs, but you do it.

Your issue should be with the owners and humans are supposed to be the more intelligent species. Suggest you remember that on the occasions that you decide to take it out on the “poor muts”.

That’s the problem, they do it when there’s no one around to catch them because they’re cowards that don’t have the guts to face the consequences of their behaviour. They possibly have no idea of the suffering they cause either.

I’ve lived in many suburbs in Canberra…every single place of residence has had at least one neighbouring dog that kept me awake for hours every night.

I usually take my frustrations out on the owner of such dogs…not the poor muts themselves. It seems some peoples minds work differently – not an excuse for such acts though.

A four month old St Bernard was only a baby apart from the emotional toll this family has under gone (hope none of the owner are childern)St bernard are an expensive dog to buy and care for. my condolences to the owners, the lose of any pet is hard but to have some low life F*%K do that, well I know what I’d do if I found out who did it.

Guys – need media attention on this to get it anywhere. These people WILL do it again. Its been going on for a few years in Evatt as per Hells_Bells.
Any ideas?

Ouch that’s close to home, I’ll have a word to my dogs!

I had two dogs I had had for at least a decade each in this house poisoned, died within 7 days of each other and the cat that hung in the backyard died a week later in the backyard, where is the cat who didn’t get along with the dogs was perfectly fine, about 5 years ago this was. Pricks!

My dog is a Samoyed & reportedly there are quite a few wild Samoyed’s in the Snowy Mountains.

Not one to normally condone violence but if you find or hear of someone doing this, beat the living sh*t out of them…

While this sort of news is horrible to hear, has it been confirmed that the dogs were actually poisoned, and not simply that they ate the poison of their own being? Any dog owner will tell you, if a dog sees something on the ground itll have a sniff and maybe a taste, not caring/knowing if its poison.

These people are just disgusting. This sort of stuff makes so angry. What do they get out of it? I just don’t get it.

Well isn’t that just the icing on a cake of depressing stories this morning.
