Canberra Christmas Lights 2009

As we are all so green these days, Christmas lights may be a little frowned upon, but they do warm the hearts of children as they warm the environment. So I thought I’d kick off the Christmas lights 2009 with this beauty (apologies for the dodgy photo – I need a better camera and less caffine).

Christmas lights on Petterd Street Page

The very enthusiastic owners of this house on Petterd Street, Page go bigger each year with their lights, so much that the neighbours this year have an arrow on their garage with the word “DITTO” (left side of pic).

What a ridiculous waste of power, time and energy.

…not to mention fire hazard.

Brindabella your just jealous that you can’t put on a display as good as these people
Screw the power the earth is stuffed anyways should enjoy it while we can!!!

The new part of Gordon has some amazing lights, one street off knoke ave, slavin pl, usually has most of the street decorated, with lights hanging between the street lights. Bonython also has an amazing house, on the corner of Norlunga Cres and Esau Pl

My lights are solar powered, so no danger of the lights blowing out or catching on fire.

I didn’t know ol’ Scrooge was among us.

P.S. Both of which are already referenced on the Christmas Lights map referenced from last year’s thread:
http://opshop.org/christmas/christmas.php

I spotted a couple in Macarthur; corner of Fihelly and Coyne St and near the junction of Sternberg and Castleton Crescents in Fadden.

Last year’s thread may be a good place to start;

Also try checking with the radio stations as they have compiled lists in the past.

Does anyone know where I can find a list of houses that have done the whole Christmas Light thing?

I want to take my nephew around this weekend… he loves this kind of stuff, but don’t want to waste my time and petrol, ending up at houses that have just put up a generic flashing star from Bunnings in a window, and consider that “Christmas Lights” worthy.

The houses decorated for Charity usually are the best, but there are also some other really good ones.
