Famously brash and fantastic punk outfit Slagatha Christieis peeling back their layers this week. Playing an acoustic set alongside Jim Dusty at Smith’s Alternative on Friday, this is a chance to catch one of Canberra’s favourite bands stripping back to their bare musical bones and revealing some shining songwriting nuggets in the process.
The string of bushfire fundraisers continues this week, with Doctor Stovepipe, Pachamama, Nick Delatovic and An Inconvenient Groove jumping on stage at Smith’s on Saturday for Red Sun, a community effort that will also feature local poets, fires talks, and displays of local art. Entry is by donation, so no matter where you’re at financially, you’ll be welcome at the show.
Friday night sees Canberra’s own house heroes The Aston Shuffle (hosts of triple j’s Friday Night Shuffle) hitting up Mr Wolf to party on their own turf. Celebrating the release of their latest track ‘Care A Little Less’, this is the ideal way to revel in everything the new year brings.
