The lottery gods have smiled on Canberra for the second time this month with a local man winning almost $1 million in Saturday’s lotto draw.
The man purchased the ticket on a whim at the Kingston Supabarn Lotto and was one of seven division one winning entries across Australia.
He said his winnings of $928,717.27 are “life-changing” and it would take some time for it to sink in.
“It’s going to change things in a big way. There’s no doubt about that,” the man told The Lott after he’d checked his ticket.
“I bought this ticket on a whim. I usually only buy tickets into the big jackpot draws, but I thought I’d give Saturday Lotto a go and I am so very glad I did.
“I never thought I’d win anything like this.”
The man is the second big winner in Canberra this month after a Charnwood man was the sole winner of more than $11 million in an Oz Lotto draw on 6 October.
The Canberra man said he’d take some time to make plans about what he would do with his windfall.
“I’m still so blown away. I really need time to think about it,” he said.
“I think I might take some time off work and chill out for a bit, then plan what I might do.”
The lucky winner had only checked his ticket yesterday (19 October) and couldn’t believe his good fortune.
“It was quite a day,” he laughed.
“I almost fell over! It’s crazy to think that I am one of seven winners.”
The winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 4095 on 17 October were 14, 12, 8, 38, 5 and 16, while the supplementary numbers were 3 and 17.
Three other winning entries were from Victoria and one each from Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.
