League Unlimited have mixed news for Canberra Raiders fans in their preview of the 2007 season:
The Canberra Raiders are the team widely accepted by the uninformed media and fans of other teams to run dead last in 2007 due to a number of factors… sections of the Sydney media have already labeled the Raiders as the Titanic of the NRL.
But there are some kinder words as the article unfolds:
Canberra has superb depth in the forwards to cover for injuries to every player in the pack. The Raiders have two NRL quality forward packs… There is also the Raiders home ground advantage which is good for a four wins a year, especially in winter where Canberra is the coldest home ground in the NRL. If the Raiders can turn Canberra Stadium into the graveyard it used to be, they’ll be very tough to beat on a Saturday in near freezing conditions. Let’s just hope we get a bit of snow this year… Whilst the Raiders probably won’t make the top eight, they have been death ridden for years and 2007 is no exception, but the enthusiasm levels should be at an all time high and I expect the players to be hungry on a weekly basis and with so many good forwards, form will play a big part in the strategy of Neil Henry.
Likely finish: 9th
