ACT records lowest daily tally of COVID-19 infections all year

The Territory has recorded 287 (156 PCR and 131 RAT) cases of COVID-19 overnight. It’s the lowest daily tally of infections reported in the ACT all year – 299 were recorded on 7 February.

There are 2429 known cases in the ACT and there have been 198,470 cases reported locally since March 2020.

Hospitals continue to care for high numbers of patients with COVID-19.

Today, there are 135 patients in hospital with COVID, two are in ICU and one requires ventilation.

Yesterday, the Territory recorded 310 cases and there were 139 patients in hospital.

Vaccination updates are provided weekly by ACT Health.

Two ACT public schools have sent some student cohorts home due to staff shortages making on-campus learning unviable.

As previously reported, Year 7 at Amaroo School and Learning Communities 2 and 4 at Margaret Hendry School will learn remotely today and tomorrow before returning to school on Wednesday, 17 August.

High incidences of remote learning have not been seen so far this term. Last term, public schools used remote learning more than 50 times as they grappled with high teacher absences due to the pandemic.

Interstate, NSW has reported six deaths overnight and 5490 new cases of COVID-19.

There are now 2178 people in hospital with the virus and 59 patients in ICUs around the state.

Victoria has recorded 15 deaths overnight and 3648 cases of COVID-19.
