Brumbies play their best in many long years to thrash the Rebels

Foxsports tell the tale of 40 minutes of bulk ace from the Brumbies last night in obliterating the Melbourne Rebels.

One team had one of the most expensive backlines in world rugby, the other team played like it had one of the most expensive backlines in world rugby.

Jake White’s superior talent identification was again vindicated with Tevita “Visa Problems” Kuridrani playing like a superstar and Fotu Auelua looking every inch a household name.

If they can play like that just one time in 5 they’ll be packing Canberra Stadium in midwinter.

Enjoying the season after attending five home games. The second half against the Rebels was easy to miss – chatted to my friends during most of this as the game was over. No complaints, however. Jake White and Laurie Fisher really are combining well. No big egos, etc… Glad to be rid of Elsom, Hoiles, Giteau and possibly others.

Also enjoyed a vigorous, physical game between ADFA and the Yass Rams on Saturday arvo. ADFA won, but go Rams – who have a cool new sheep mascot!!

It was a joy to behold. I can’t think of a player that had a poor game, with those listed by VicePope putting in strong performances. The denied try, well, it probably should have gone as benefit of the doubt.

They were impressive, with much improved handling and more confidence. Pat McCabe did some of his best work, running straight and closing down James O’Connor in defence. Jesse Mogg and Christian Lealiifano were again sound and made up much of the difference. Solid and coordinated work from the forwards, especially Stephen Moore, Michael Hooper and Ben Mowen. The personal jury is still out on Fotu Aleuela, but he’s big with wild hair.
Another night, another questionable decision by George Ayoub in the TMO chair. This time, he denied a try to Aleuela.
