Underground Spirits has taken inspiration from Regency-era elegance to give Floriade visitors a Bridgerton-esque experience at the flower festival. The diamond of the season is the Lady Floriade Gin: a fruity, floral spirit that aims to distil the joy of spring into a glass.

“This year’s Underground Spirits Gin Garden promises an immersive experience, featuring a garden party inspired by Bridgerton, with all the touches of high society and romance culminating in the debut of our Lady Floriade Gin,” Claudia Roughley, CEO of Underground Spirits, says.

“The Gin Garden offers a haven where visitors can unwind and gossip in an enchanting setting.”

Underground Spirits cocktail domes will be available to book for groups of two, four or eight from 14 September to 13 October, including NightFest.

The Lady Floriade gin takes its inspiration from popular flavours of Regency-era Britain; notably, pineapple, which was a rare delicacy at the time. Classic gin botanicals of juniper berry, coriander seed and lemon are blended with bright pineapple and paired with lavender and rose for their floral qualities. Richly sweet raisins and sultanas offer flavours reminiscent of traditional fruitcakes, which, of course, pair perfectly with English breakfast tea.

“The flavours in the Lady Floriade Gin encompass all aspects of a Regency-era garden party. Floral notes from the flowers draping around the garden, sweetness from the dried fruit in the tasty cakes being consumed, tanginess from the pineapple and a lingering aftertaste of English breakfast tea,” said Underground Spirits Distiller Stewart Dobson.

After a G&T on arrival, there is the option to purchase further cocktails – whimsically served in teapots – as well as a selection of pastries from L’epi Artisan Bakery, including an exclusive Floriade Tart.

“The Floriade Tart is a passionfruit and pineapple tart where you’ll find gin-soaked pineapple, topped with passionfruit curd, encased in a passionfruit mousse, all on a bed of gin-soaked sponge and a crunchy tart base,” the L’epi team announced on social media.

Each session in the cocktail dome lasts for 90 minutes, with options ranging from a G&T on arrival and discounted cocktails to an all-inclusive experience for groups of eight.
