People give that much to a church? Seriously? I wonder when they last did their banking?

Banking leaves a paper-trail. They’d have to justify where the money was going and account for each cent properly, in a way that the tax office and others would be very interested in. If you get 20k, bank 1k and keep the other 19k in a safe, the tax man is kept happy and so are the recipients of the untracable money.

On another note, why did someone have to break into a church on a sunday over easter? Wouldnt the church have been open and kinda busy at that time?

Perhaps the thief was a regular church-goer who knew how much they take on Easter Sunday, and when the church would be empty.

A lower form of life than what? Stealing from a wealthy cult church is somehow worse than stealing from any hardworking family?

+1

i’d rather see publicity about crime affecting ordinary families than this. no offence, JB.

God would smite them but of course good Christians will forgive them.

To get $20,000 you only need 400 people to chip in a $50, and religious holidays tend to be “catchup days” for congregations.

A $20k cash rated safe isn’t expensive, but remembering to bolt it to the floor is what gets most people.
(Hence the “some cash and a safe containing the collection money was stolen” part of the media release…)

Lessons learned?

People give FIFTY BUCKS??? Crikey!!

What is a “lower form of life” exactly? And what are the other forms, if any? Curious.
