ACT COVID-19 cases top 1000; 61 people in hospital

The ACT has recorded a jump in daily COVID-19 infections. ACT Health says 1073 (604 RAT 469 PCR) new cases of the virus were recorded in the 24 hours to 8 pm yesterday.

With the additional cases, there are now 5676 (3086 PCR, 2590 RAT) active infections across the Territory.

Since the pandemic began, there have been 89,510 (56,778 PCR, 32,732 RAT) cases of COVID-19 reported in the ACT.

Once again, there are 61 people in hospital and two in the ICU, both of whom were being ventilated.

The double-dose vaccination rate for the ACT’s five-plus population is now 96.6 per cent, and 74.4 per cent of residents aged 16 and older have now received a booster.

Of ACT residents aged five to 11, 61 per cent have received two doses of vaccine.

Interstate, NSW has reported eight deaths overnight and 18,265 new cases of COVID-19.

There are now 1583 people in hospital with the virus and 71 people in ICUs around the state.

Victoria has reported 12 deaths overnight and an additional 10,293 cases of COVID-19.

There are now 376 people hospitalised with the virus, while 19 patients are in the state’s intensive care units.

Most Govt employees are required to attend the office, with winter around the corner things are not looking good.

The one number that actually matters, hidden behind a smokescreen of irrelevant stats… In case you missed it, Canberra has a grand total of 2 persons in ICU for Covid.

Good thing we have a Public Health Emergency declared… Not clear how we would be coping otherwise.
