Have a passion for sustainability and the environment and want to play an active role in the future of the ACT’s waste management? Nominations are now open for people interested in joining a community or commercial reference group on waste management in the ACT.
An ACT Waste Feasibility Study is underway and we want the community and local businesses to get involved in the project. The reference groups will play a valuable role in informing the recommendations provided to government to achieve its resource recovery targets as set out in the ACT Waste Management Strategy 2011-2025.
The Community Reference Group will act as a consultative forum through which members will contribute to the development of strategies and recommendations to improve waste management.
The Commercial Reference Group will have a role in sharing information about what waste challenges businesses face as well as developing new frameworks for waste legislation and innovative ideas to minimise and manage waste.
By taking part in the reference groups you will be helping the ACT Government achieve its commitment to divert over 90% of all the ACT’s waste from landfill by 2025.
Managing waste is an issue for all households and businesses, so we encourage anyone who would like to get involved to register their interest by completing a registration form on the TAMS website.
Registration closes Wednesday 11 November 2015.
