ACT Policing has arrested a 19-year-old man after he confronted police with a knife at the Big Splash Water Park, Catchpole Street, Macquarie.
Police attended the location to speak to the man who was wanted in relation to a warrant for his arrest.
As the officers were speaking to the man he produced a flick-style knife. The man has thrust the knife at an officer who has taken evasive action and drawn his firearm. Two other officers have used Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) spray in an attempt to disarm him.
The assailant has continued to thrust the knife towards the officers who used OC spray three more times before the spray took effect. This caused the assailant to drop the knife, and he was arrested.
The alleged offender was then taken into custody and conveyed to the ACT Watch House. He is expected to be charged with resist apprehension with a weapon with intent to kill, possess offensive weapon with intent and other charges relating to the outstanding apprehension warrant.
