ACT Policing Rural Patrol members are investigating recent gate cutting incidents at Namadgi National Park near Corin Forest.

Around 5:30am on Saturday, 13 June 2015, ACT Rangers obtained some images (below) of a group of men who police believe can assist in the investigation.

If you can identify the people in the images, or provide information about the gate cutting incidents, we would encourage you to call ACT Policing Operations on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Information can also be submitted online via https://act.crimestoppers.com.au/.

Scum like this don’t even know or care about the difference between a firetrail and a farm, cutting gates to farms so they can go pigging or kill roo’s.

I used to enjoy the occasional drive on the old logging tracks in my fourby, have done so at Corin for over 15 years. Now it’s a criminal act.
ACT Parks seem to have too much money and time, what do these gates cost tax payers to install, maintain and now police? .. All to keep mostly taxpayers out!

Honestly, I love the local bushland, I never leave rubbish or trash the tracks, The tax earned from all the mods and maintenance on my four wheel drive would match the economy of a small country, yet it seems that people like me are being stereotyped all from what I can tell is the poor management and the lack of forward thinking..

They installed these camera’s to catch people cutting gates.. Why not just install the camera’s at the main road and brace yourself.. NOT INSTALL the hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gates. And just catch the idiots dumping rubbish and burning cars! Last I checked that was already a crime.
It wouldn’t be hard and it would cost a fraction of the price, plus tax payers like me would still be able to enjoy a challenging drive on the weekend without leaving the state.

Wont this just make people want to go out and find the camera now?

Why did they catch these images but not one of the vehicle that went through the gate [if they did indeed gain access]? Could have tracked them down in no time with a rego check.
Why would someone wear camouflaged pants and put hi viz jacket on top?

the CT story said they drove through in a sedan with covered plates.

The camera is probably just a cheap trail cam, not best suited for your average 7-11 but great in low traffic areas or where you want to capture things that occasionally wander by.

According to the Canberra Crimes today they have an image of the car (it was shown) but the number plates were deliberately obscured.

Obviously these guys are apart of the “We have the right to bush bash around at 3am in the national park while half drunk” crowd.

As MERC600 mentioned. The camera quality is excellent here and the usual hold up spots in Canberra (All 7-Elevens, IGAs, and Caltex Kambah) should fork out the $20 for a camera that does a better picture than a expressionist painter using a Super Nintendo.

They just cut the chain or padlock ?

The Gov shouldn’t be gating off the bush anyway. Those gates deserved to be ripped out.

Hmmm – the one on the right in the top picture looks a bit like Prince Harry.

Interesting. I gather the camera must be one of those small concealed pen types. Very good result.

Perhaps some of these small stores around town could start using something similar.
