Canberra’s A-League bid will host a forum next week where fans will be able to provide their input into shaping the future of the potential Canberra club.
The event will be an opportunity for people to ask questions and learn more about the bid, as well as to have their say in how they would like the club to develop.
Bid organiser Michael Caggiano said the forum was the first step towards integrating the community into the club’s foundations.
“This forum will be the first opportunity for fans to tell us what is important to them, and what we can do at this early stage to build a club that really connects with the local community,” Mr Caggiano said.
“What we are doing differently is giving our fans an unprecedented level of say in how their club is run.
“We think we’ve captured some of the most important points the members are initially interested in but we want them to help guide this conversation.”
Caggiano said the ‘vital’ information provided at the forum would be used to help guide the club’s decision-making as the bid team seeks to build the most community orientated team in the A-League.
“We will be using the feedback from this event to help us build a team that truly reflects the community it is representing,” Mr Caggiano said. “We started the foundation membership program to create a community that will play an active role in building this club from the ground up.”
The bidding team must submit its final application to FFA by the end of August and the two successful expansion clubs will be named on October 31.
Should the bid be successful, foundation members will be responsible for determining the club’s name, colours, crest, ticketing and general operations.
The forum will be held at the Woden Hellenic Club and will be open to anyone signed up to the club’s free foundation membership program.
