Territory and Municipal Services are making known the changing road conditions while they get on with the Majura Parkway prior to budget contraints delaying the whole shebang:

Temporary lane and road closures in Pialligo and Majura

From Monday 18 February 2013, there will be temporary lane and road closures on the
following roads:

— Morshead Drive between the Monaro Highway roundabout and
— Morshead Drive/Pialligo Avenue intersection
— Morshead Drive between Pialligo Avenue and Fairbairn Avenue
— Fairbairn Avenue between Morshead Drive and Addison Road.

This is to allow for tree removal activities along the alignment.

Work will be undertaken outside peak traffic periods. Traffic controls will be in place to manage vehicle and pedestrian movements.

Changed traffic conditions on Majura Road

From Thursday 21 February 2013 until early 2014 (weather permitting), the merge point for southbound traffic travelling from Horse Park Drive and the Federal Highway off ramp onto Majura Road will be moved across the median to the northbound carriageway. Majura Road will then become a single lane road (in each direction) from this point instead of at the intersection with Hector McIntosh Grove.

This is to allow construction of a bridge on Majura Road near the Federal Highway Interchange.

Asphalt work, line marking and the installation of barriers will be undertaken between 9 am
and 4 pm on Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 February 2013 to facilitate these changed traffic arrangements. Signage will be in place to alert motorists to the changed conditions and traffic controllers will be on site to guide vehicle movements.

Gotta love Canberra drivers. They’re either tailgating and honking you going through roadwork zone, or doing 60 in the right lane of a 80km/hr dual carriage way holding up all the traffic.

I travelled along it from Guga din to airport the other day. They have one long section that is 60, and thankfully a car in me decided to stick to the limit. So that didn’t worry me none as I’m in no hurry, but the rooster behind was right up my clanger all the way. I can imagine the grief he would have given the bloke sticking to the speed limit if he was behind him.

Same, while i am annoyed about the useless 60kms between the Gun Club and the AFP, I will do the speed limit, and no amount of tailgaiting, swerving, or honking (yes ive been honked) or dangerous overtaking will make me go any faster, even if, I too, am late for work….
