ACT Policing is seeking witnesses who may have seen a large group of people, mostly men, gathered in a Canberra car park shortly before the attack on the Syrian embassy earlier this month (Saturday, February 4).
Police believe this group of men, gathered near the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge around 9pm, may have been involved in the attack later that evening.
The attack on the embassy, which occurred around 9.30pm, caused extensive damage to the embassy’s ground floor including smashed windows and damage to the front door.
Police would urge anyone that may have seen this group of men gathered near the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge on Saturday, February 4, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
