We know a whole lot about what’s happening today, Australia Day, but there’s a whole weekend still ahead of us.

So what do you know that’s happening this weekend and will be worth checking out?

Yup trust me …I’m a scientist and I’m with the government [why doesn’t that scare people when I say it]…but yup I noted it wasn’t on the website so rang Blair myself coz I was told before I headed out for the Harvest Fest that he was on at our beloved Gilded Palace of Sin…see you there

Cool! You sure about Blair’s gig, as there’s nothing on his website?

Just when it was looking like one of those “If there’s nowhere to turn, turn on the gas” weekends…here’s something worth checking out that might just keep your head out of the oven [yeah yeah I’m a chemist so I know the gas we use is a mighty difficult agent of delivery due to…inter alia… a lack of carbon monoxide]

Randall Blair @ the Phoenix this Saturday [the 28th I think] with the Hashemoto Duo

SHould you have the good fortune to be in Melbourne on 4th or 18th check out Jim Yamouridis @ The Empress and the Wesley Anne respectively…what a voice and what a songsmith. I had the good fortune to hear him last weekend…the support acts are pretty hot too

Tomorrow night 8.30pm Commonwealth Place a screening of Bewitched (with Will Ferrell and Nicole Kidman).

Saturday pretty much all day jet ski racing on Lake Burley Griffin.

Sunday 9.30am St Andrew’s in Forrest the annual Australia Day chirch service and morning tea.

Also on Sunday 4pm til 7pm Sunday in the Park at Stage 88; family entertainment including local funk band Dubba Rukki (I’ll be there for a certain birthday).

A lovely duo called The Heathens grace the Pot Belly tonight at the Open mic for their second performance. They play some quite quaint U2 covers along with some more lovely soulful tunes.

Saturday is Scene 2006 with bands Unpaid Debt, This Shotgun Kiss, Switch 3, Zero Degrees & Falling, Strong Like Sam and Haymarket Square. The gig is at Sound Underground and costs 8 bucks. Show starts at 5pm.
