A man and woman have been charged with multiple offences following an investigation into the thefts of several vehicles across the ACT.

Police said they spotted a suspected stolen silver Hyundai Elantra in Belconnen on 18 June, which they believed was used during other crimes in Canberra.

Later that day in Gungahlin, the driver allegedly failed to stop for police when directed to do so, with the Elantra later found abandoned in McKellar.

It was seized for forensic examination.

On Saturday evening (25 June), police found a 28-year-old woman and 39-year-old man at a home in Moncrieff.

The Moncrieff woman was arrested immediately while the Watson man was arrested about an hour later after a negotiated surrender.

ACT Police thanked the community for information about the stolen Hyundai, including several people who reported it being driven suspiciously in the Gungahlin area.

The man has been charged with driving a motor vehicle without consent and breach of parole.

The woman has been charged with riding a motor vehicle without consent, three counts of obtaining property by deception, one count of making off without payment and breach of an intensive correction order.
