Fight Club (David Fincher, 1999)

R18+ | 139 Mins | 1999 | DCP | US | D: David Fincher

An unnamed narrator suffering from insomnia establishes an underground fight club with the mysterious Tyler Durden in Chuck Palahniuk’s 1996 satirical novel. The first rule? You don’t talk about fight club.

Brad Pitt and Edward Norton thrill in David Fincher’s iconic film adaptation, which also stars Helena Bonham Carter. Now a cult classic, Fight Club confronts loneliness, violence, purpose and masculinity in the modern world with edgy violence and dark humour.

‘A brilliantly realized series of sucker punches, a philosophical howl disguised as a muscular guy movie’ – TV Guide Magazine

The screening will be followed by a discussion of the film and the novel with special guest Andrew Hutchinson in conversation with Kaya Wilson. Presented in partnership with Canberra Writers Festival.
